Frequently Asked Questions - Web Hosting

Q: How do I create a web site?

A: You can create a web site on your own, or you can hire the services of a professional web developer. The expert developers at ONE NET for ALL can develop a web site to suit your needs, from a simple site showcasing your products and services to a full featured web application encompassing the entire range of e-business offerings. For more information about our development services, drop us a line at info@1net4all.com.

Q: I want to create my own web site, how do I get started?

A: The first step to creating your own site is to get a web site authoring program. There are a variety of packages available, some of the more prominent packages are Microsoft FrontPage, Adobe GoLive, and Macromedia DreamWeaver. Even Microsoft Word has the basic capability to create web pages.

Q: I've developed my web site, how do I get it onto the server?

A: This is called "publishing", and the process depends on the program you are using to develop your site. If you are using Microsoft FrontPage, you can select "Publish" from the "File" menu and then specify the URL of your web site (e.g. http://www.yourdomain.com). Other programs will use FTP to transfer to the server. Some will have the FTP software built in, others will require an external FTP client program to accomplish this. Please consult the documentation of your program for further information. For either method of publishing, you will be asked for your User ID and Password. The User ID you will specify is simply your 1Account ID (e.g. you@yourdomain.com). The Password you will supply is simple your 1Account ID password.

Q: How do I collect information on my site in a secure manner?

A: Security is a huge issue for the Internet. If you are collecting sensitive information on your web site, such as credit card numbers, you must have a SSL certificate installed on your site, and the areas on your site where the information is collected must be referenced using "https" instead of the normal "http". There is an annual fee associated with having an SSL certificate, and you will need to prove your identity to obtain an SSL certificate. Although you can get your own SSL certificate, we have partnered with Comodo to make certificate ordering easier for you. Either way, you can begin the process by accessing My Account to the left and requesting an SSL certificate be added to your web hosting package.
